These courses are open to all but are especially for massage therapies who want to enhance their practice to add an extra dimension for healing.
Small Class Sized
All Ayurvedic body therapies are taught in small groups over a weekend in a format that gives students hands on instruction and opportunity to work on each other.
Worth Noting
Though there are no pre-requisites, the student should check their local city and state for specific requirements. In some states, a massage therapy license may be required for fee based body therapies.
Programs
With light-to-moderate pressure, long, flowing strokes help restore the balance of vital energy, deeply nourish the body and relax the nervous system, enhancing lymphatic and arterial circulation. Students will learn to perform a synchronized massage with another therapist or on their own with grace and confidence.
Provides the most relaxing way to eliminate toxins and burn calories and fat! The body will sweat out fats, toxins, heavy metals, sodium, sulfuric acid and lactic acid. Steam therapy opens the skin pores and melts toxins and releases them through sweat. Great for many types of skin conditions, joint and muscle pain, various respiratory conditions, obesity and arthritis.
Shirodhara is a classical Ayurvedic treatment in which warm oil is poured in a continuous stream across the forehead. This quietens the mind and creates the stillness that is experienced in meditation. The mind synchronizes into the Alpha brain wave state which is the state of mind when we experience being present and in the now, aware but without thinking, relaxed but not sleeping. Shirodhara enhances blood circulation to the brain, improves memory, nourishes the hair and scalp and aids in the release of stress and tension. Besides oil, students will learn about other mediums for Shirodhara that can be prepared for various conditions. Students will also learn to give Indian scalp massage and Marma therapy of the head. Great therapy for insomnia, headaches, anxiety, PTSD, concussion and all Vata and Pitta related challenges.
Udvartana is a detoxifying full body massage using herbal paste to create lightness, open pores, remove blockages in the blood vessels, increase heat in the tissues, and stimulate fat metabolism. Udvartana reduces both Vata and Kapha and is very invigorating. When Udvartana forms part of a prescribed treatment program that includes an Ayurvedic diet plan, Yoga and appropriate herbal medication to reduce weight and promote a well-toned body. Students will learn how to use different herbs and oils and why, to make a customized Udvartana mixture. Benefits of this therapy include reduced cellulite/ subcutaneous fat tissue, reduced body stiffness, body odor, improved blood circulation and lymphatic drainage and more.
